Aruna is a Senior Associate working with Khurana & Khurana, Advocates and IP Attorneys (K&K). She is an Indian Patent Agent, she primarily works on patent drafting and prosecution. Before transitioning fully into intellectual property, she gained industry experience as a Technical Lead at KPIT Cummins, where she developed MATLAB/Simulink-based vehicular control projects such as Electric Power Assisted Steering (EPAS). She also conducted research in the United States on environmental engineering and high-throughput biological data analysis. Aruna holds a B.E. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Manipal Institute of Technology, an M.S. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (USA), and a Postgraduate Diploma in Intellectual Property Rights Law from the National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bangalore. During her M.S., she worked on an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)-funded project focused on implementing diesel particulate filter technology to reduce air pollution. Her research involved analysis of gases, bacterial density, and sensor-based monitoring systems for evaluating indoor air quality, providing her with strong experience in experimental research, data analysis, and environmental monitoring technologies. Aruna also gained research experience in the United States, including work at the University of Nevada, Reno, School of Medicine. During this time, she investigated signal-to-noise characteristics using fluorescent plate readers, analyzed large volumes of high-throughput biological data. Her combined engineering, research, and legal training enables her to effectively bridge technology innovation and patent protection strategies.
